The European project PHORTIFY has officially launched, bringing together 12 leading universities, research institutes, and companies from 7 countries to create a cutting-edge training network in photonics.
PHORTIFY’s mission is clear: to equip students, researchers, and professionals with the digital and photonics skills needed to drive innovation and tackle tomorrow’s challenges. From a European master’s programme to flexible micro-credentials and an open-access library of software and datasets, the initiative offers learning opportunities tailored to both academia and industry.
“PHORTIFY is more than education – it’s a bridge between top expertise and real-world impact,” said project coordinator Lukas Meier. “Together we will shape the next generation of specialists and strengthen Europe’s leadership in photonics.”
The programme also includes student support services, networking events, and sustainable partnerships to ensure long-term growth and collaboration across Europe.
With photonics playing an essential role in technologies from healthcare and communications to clean energy and manufacturing, PHORTIFY is set to become a driving force in preparing Europe’s talent for a bright future.
